Daddy's Little Helper

Truck in the background and on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, my son Kaeden helped me in the yard. Mommy was off with some friends so we decided we'd get dirty.

I should have realized that Mommy had play clothes for the little guy, but I grabbed what looked good to me and put it on him, a t-shirt and shorts, and found out that I put on exactly what Mommy had been saving for a special occasion. Whoops. That's why his shirt's off. His butt was all muddy from sitting where I was watering. Boys will be boys.

The highlight of the afternoon was the wagon ride. Killing two birds with one stone, I moved plants around in Kaeden's red wagon while he rode along and supervised. He especially liked it when we emptied the plants and went real fast. Almost dumped him out accidentally once while Mommy was watching. Oops again. We all know that he's gonna fall out of a wagon at some point I won't necessarily have to be around for it to happen.

Later that night the family went for our first official outing to Chuck E. Cheese. He was shy about getting on the rides at first but was kicking and screaming by the time we left. He once kicked and jerked his head back in protest so hard that he knocked the back of his head against the ride he was on. He didn't want to get off. He was so mad I don't even think he felt it.

I love being with my family. It's such a great break from working so hard.

I'm looking forward to moments like this with Malachi. What a classic story. I can just see Shelley's face as she walked into the backyard to see him with that outfit on...
