Flair Magazine on Custom Built Windows & Doors

There aren't very many people who are worthy of the title of master craftsman these days. In my opinion, it's become a dying art. So, when you see someone capable of artistry at such a level, you can't help but stand in awe.

Steve has shared here on his blog a custom wood door he built for a woman in the Central
Florida and more specifically, the Tampa Bay area. As well, he's talked a lot about the custom built windows he's made for homes in the historical areas of Tampa. He has done an exceptional job and has been recently recognized for it. Flair magazine, from the Tampa Tribune, has featured some of Steve's craftsmanship in their most recent magazine.

Flair has featured one of his custom built doors on page 27 with the caption "before & after". There, they say this homeowner received an "entryway makeover" with a beautiful shot of the door on one full page. Steve custom built the door of Cypress wood with some simple Walnut accents and as you can see, it's pretty amazing. Steve even fitted it with an antique handle and lock, taking the work one step further. The craftsmanship is like none other and I'm sure the homeowner is excited.

As well, in a piece entitled "Open Wide: An Informal Guide to Doors and Windows", they talked with Steve about the custom windows home-owners have Steve building and installing to help with not only the energy efficiency, but also the historical integrity of the homes. Steve was quoted as saying "Our main focus is the historic sash window. We build them from scratch to match the others ones in the house or others from the same time period."

It's cool to see Steve's focus on these historic homes through custom built doors and windows has made for some great publicity. These incredible pieces of artistry are just a few examples of numerous pieces custom built by he and his team at Quillian Craftsman.

As a friend of Steve's and someone who has not only worked for him in the past, but someone who loves to refer him, it's exciting to see Steve receiving the recognition. Congrats, Steve.
